Hey, I'm Jamie! 👋
I was born in Australia, grew up in Hanoi, Vietnam, and now reside in Maryland, USA. Through the blend of cultures and educational experiences, I learnt to listen, embrace the differences, and view life through the lens of others.
I am currently a Lecturer at the University of Maryland, College Park in the School of Information, where I teach and mentor students in AR/VR development and human-centered design. I earned my Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction at the same institution, where I conducted research under the guidance of Dr. Myungin Lee, Dr. Snehesh Shrestha, and Dr. Jun Nishida.
I am broadly motivated by the vision of fulfilling humanity’s potential–a goal that informs my personal development, research agenda, and teaching philosophy. To this end, I design and build technologies that augment human capabilities and enhance cognitive functions. My research has been featured at CHI 2024 and CHI 2025. As an educator, I strive to empower students to take ownership of their learning, navigate ambiguity, and ask the right questions.
